| Meandering through shops on the Outer Banks is an absorbing, relaxing pursuit--and apparently the first one to come to mind on rainy days! That's when the shops teem with activity, traffic crawls, and parking is at a premium in the little towns along these barrier islands. Still, rain or shine, there's so much to explore, and a lot of the truly unique shops can be found on side streets in quiet villages or between the Beach Road (N.C. 12) and the Bypass (U.S. 158), from Corolla to Roanoke Island. So take your time, please. Consider it a treasure hunt. |
